SHOOTING UPDATE #1

January 12, 2018         4:00 pm

Joshua Allen Lee, 29 year old Friendswood resident, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as a result of the shooting earlier this date at the Gay Family Auto Service Center.

The victim, 38 year old Michael Pavlas, was transported to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center.   Mr. Pavlas received numerous gunshot wounds, none are expected to be life threatening.   (The police department will not be updating the condition of the victim due to medical privacy restrictions.)

Mr. Pavlas is Mr. Lee’s supervisor.   The shooting appears to be a result of Lee being upset about the number of hours he was being assigned at work.   Pavlas was in his office when he was shot.

After the shooting, Lee left in his 2011 Chevrolet Malibu.   Dickinson Police were able to broadcast a description of the suspect vehicle.   A League City Police office on the way to another call spotted the vehicle traveling northbound on IH-45.   Lee refused to stop for officers and pursuit of about three miles ended in Friendswood near his home.   Lee then ran from the vehicle and was pursued on foot by officers from League City and Webster Police Departments.  Lee had a Ruger .357 revolver on his person at the time.  Officers used a taser to take Lee into custody.  Lee does not have a license to carry a handgun.   Lee sustained a small laceration on his chin as a result of being tased and falling to the ground.

Lee was transferred to the Dickinson Police Station and is currently in the Dickinson City Jail.   After review of the case with the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was filed in Galveston County.   Bond on that charge was set at $80,000.00.

An additional charge of felony evading is expected to be filed later today by League City Police Department in Harris County, where the pursuit took place.

Lee does not have any previous criminal history.   Lee will be transferred to the Galveston County Jail later this evening.

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is a second degree felony, punishable by two years to twenty years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a $10,000.00 fine.

Comments:
Anyone that can pull a gun and shoot another person because of the work schedule handed to them is clearly a danger to society. I hope he gets the full 20 years to sit and think about his thuggish actions.
